Nana Ama Poku is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer with oversight responsibility for the Business/Banking Division of the Bank.


She is primarily responsible for executing set targets of the Bank’s corporate strategy, customised product development and drives the strategy for management of the Bank’s risk asset portfolio.


Embedded in her role is the need for a focus on SME development, focus on import substitution, raw material base development, creation of networking/synergies among stakeholders, Non Traditional Export (NTE) diversification, and support for ‘made in Ghana’ goods.


Nana Ama has oversight of nurturing of large corporates with capacity for export and cross border trade. She also oversees the implementation of the Ghana EXIM Bank’s initiatives: These include the Cassava Enterprise Project, Graduate Enterprise and Development Initiative (GEDI), Shea Empowerment Initiative, Youth in Green House project, Kente Development Initiative, Metal Fabrication Support Programme and Mining Alternative Livelihood Initiative.  


The seamless coordination between the One District One Factory Secretariat and the Bank is under her purview. With this collaboration, feasible projects with potential for employment creation, value addition, and foreign exchange generation are supported.


She has over 19 years’ experience in Corporate, SME/Commercial and Retail Banking, Risk Management, Banking Operations, Portfolio Development and management. She also has extensive knowledge and expertise on Government guaranteed project financing, strategy implementation and planning, Import/Export Trade, asset and liability management.


Prior to joining the Bank in March 2017, she was the Head of Financial Institutions at First Atlantic Bank Limited where she promoted financial inclusion through nurturing relationships with Non- Bank financial institutions, including, Insurance Companies and Savings and Loans Institutions.


Nana Ama holds a BA (Social Sciences) from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi – Ghana, and an MA (Marketing Communications) from the University of Westminster Business School, London – United Kingdom.
She also holds an Executive MBA (Entrepreneurial Management) from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
